Photo by Azzura PhotographyAs a child, I remember sitting next to my stereo on Sunday afternoons, listening to Casey Kasem's American Top 40. It was then I discovered my passion for music. I realized music could entertain the mind, excite the soul, and elicit a variety of emotions.

My first paid "DJ gig" was in 1982. In retrospect, it was a comical experience, given the circumstances and the technology I was using at the time (I'd be happy to share the details if you're interested). However, seeing a roomful of people enjoying themselves, responding to the music I chose and the comments I made was exhilarating.

Despite this introduction to the profession at a young age, it wasn't until six years later, 1988, when I took my first real job as a professional disc jockey. Unfortunately, the word "professional" should have been in quotation marks. Although I was working at least one event (usually two or more) almost every weekend and getting paid (next to nothing), I was not really pursuing a career or expanding my skills and knowledge. Despite the lack of training, I became the company's most sought after wedding DJ.

In 1994, after completing my Civil Engineering degree and earning an MBA, I decided to pursue a career as a professional entertainer. My knowledge and skills have grown exponentially since making this move. There was so much about the wedding industry, about being a disc jockey, about being a master of ceremonies, and about entertaining people I didn't know. Making the decision to become a self-employed, professional entertainer, was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Actually, it was the fourth best decision, following decisions to accept Jesus as my savior, to marry my wonderful wife (of almost 20 years), and to have children (two boys who keep me young at heart and like to tell their friends, "My dad's a DJ!").

Given where I am now in my career, I am saddened by stories of brides and grooms who have entrusted the most important day of their lives to someone who is still learning the ropes, or to a friend, or a cousin, or even to one of the many DJ's working a weekend job for one of the many local DJ companies. There are numerous individuals who can play music, but few who can do it well, and even fewer who possess the numerous other skills and the acumen to create an event that flows smoothly, engages everyone, is unique, and reflects the personalities of their clients.

Since making the decision to pursue this as a career, I have been striving to be the best wedding entertainer money can buy, and one of the best investments my clients will make toward the success of their event. Through a combination of training, networking, education, practice, and hard work, I have become a professional whom many consider to be the best in the business. I care very much about each and every one of my clients, as well as the success of their special day. I would be honored if you would take the time to interview me and consider me for this critical role, and I guarantee if you hire me, your wedding will be all that you hoped it would be... and more.
